Final budget choices come to Nanaimo Council today

Nanaimo City Councillors still have some budget decisions to make.

After a series of meetings to go over each item in detail, Council is looking at a 2.5 per cent tax increase.

Or, they can cut three items from the budget to bring it down to 2.2 per cent: The $165-thousand contribution to the housing legacy fund, a new $80-thousand fire pump for the harbour patrol boat Osprey, and the $50-thousand set aside for financial performance audits

They’ll make that call Monday at a Committee meeting and the plan is to have the budget bylaws ready for a vote on April 28th and final adoption on May 12th.
