The Chief and a Councillor and Chief Negotiator with the Snuneymuxw First Nation say a meeting with the new CEO of the Nanaimo Port Authority was disappointing.
Councillor and Chief Negotiator, Doug White says it appears Ewan Moir has no knowledge about any kind of relationship between the First Nation and the Port Authority…..
White says Moir believes there should be no difference between any users or community partners and that Snuneymuxw should not be treated any differently from anyone else in the Port Authority decision making process.
White says the attitude of the Port Authority only confirms the First Nation needs to carry on with its work with the Nanaimo Marina Association and the City of Nanaimo to develop an alternative to the NPA.
