Sunshine Coasters: Bicycles for Humanity wants your wheels!

A Sunshine Coast couple is hoping to get a hold of people’s old bicycles.

Bill and Lyn Charlton have started a chapter of “Bicycles for Humanity“.  The international charity collects servicable, used bikes and ships them to Africa where they become inexpensive and reliable transportation.

Bill Charlton says it also goes beyond just dropping off a bunch of bikes.

There are two Bicycles for Humanity collection depots being set up this weekend.  On Saturday, April 5th from 10am to Noon at Coast Storage and Container in Pender Harbour, and Sunday from 10 to Noon at Bypass Auto Wreckers on the way to the Langdale ferry terminal.

The eventual goal is to collect 500 bikes.  They have to be in good enough shape that you can ride it and stop it, other than that there’s no limitations.
