Assault allegations involving Nanaimo councillor put to rest

The BC Prosecution Service has completed its investigation into assault allegations related to the arrest of an un-named Nanaimo City Councillor.
Because the matter involves privacy concerns of the individual involved the information being released is scarce, but the Service says it has concluded no report to Crown Counsel will be forwarded for consideration on the investigation.
The Service was asked to appoint a Special Prosecutor to avoid any potential for real or perceived improper influence in the administration of justice in light of the fact that the allegations involved members of Nanaimo City Council as elected municipal officials.
The matters involving the councillor who had been arrested and then released with conditions last December were resolved without court proceedings.
