Nanaimo shelter expects to be busy
The shelter at the First Unitarian facility in Nanaimo is set to open November 1st.
Shelter Manager, Kevan Griffiths says they opened early last year due to rain and cold weather…..
Griffiths says they expanded to 30 beds last December and were full every night…..
Griffiths says he saw more new faces at the shelter last year and figures some homeless people are moving into the area from Victoria, or even Vancouver, where street life is a little tougher.
