The Nanaimo RCMP and Fire Department were called to a home in the 700 block of Nicol Street, where the house was in flames during the noon hour today (Tues).
While fighting the fire crews found three people inside the home, including two adults and a 7 year old girl.
The Nanaimo RCMP is working with the fire department to investigate the scene.
The cause of the fire, and cause of the deaths will be investigated by the Nanaimo Detachment’s Serious Crime Unit and fire investigators from both the RCMP and Nanaimo Fire Department.
The BC Coroner service is also involved in the investigation.
Corporal Jon Stuart of the Nanaimo RCMP says the family of the deceased has been contacted, and School District 68 has been notified as the young girl attended a local school.
