Nanaimo’s Search and Rescue team got a call at suppertime Sunday about an injured rock climber near the Nanaimo River.
Carly Trobridge says a 24 year old woman smashed her knee on a rock and was in quite a bit of pain…..
Trobridge says the high angle rescue isn’t something SAR crews do very often…..
Because of that level of expertise that was required, SAR teams from Arrowsmith, Ladysmith and the Extension Fire Department were also called in to help.

Trobridge says it’s been a busy year for the Nanaimo SAR team for medical evacuations and this was their 40th.

She says they normally have 25 for the entire year.
