Nanaimo Museum celebrating 50 years

The Nanaimo Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary and the opening of the final part of the museum’s permanent gallery. The ribbon was cut Wednesday afternoon at a private event for volunteers and donors. John Manning, the President of the museum’s board of directors, says the exhibit celebrates some of the richest parts of Nanaimo’s past.

Manning says most of the displays are created by staff. He says the new exhibit means 15 to 20 per cent of the museum’s collection is now out on display.

The public is invited to celebrate the museum’s 50th year and check out the new part of the gallery on Saturday, April 5 from 1:00pm-5:00pm.
