The province is conducting a review of it’s professional reliance model.
That’s when proponents of a project have to submit reports from professionals ranging from biologists to engineers to the government in order to proceed with a project.
Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, George Heyman says the public has lost confidence in the process and he cites one case where a group of farmers had to prove the water supply was not being contaminated…..
Heyman says the public must be assured that the process is transparent and upholds the highest environmental standards and actions flowing from the review will help restore public confidence in government’s oversight.
The review is expected on the minister’s desk by the spring of 2018.
