Taxpayers to cough up “big money”

It seems the big money, from corporations and unions, is being taken away from political parties and instead, taxpayers will foot the bill.
The NDP’s John Horgan announced their plan to take corporate and union money out of politics but what he didn’t talk about was his transition allowance that will see the B.C. Liberals and NDP each get about one point 9 million dollars next year from the taxpayer.
The Greens will get about 830,000, if the bill is passed.

It works out to 2 dollars 50 cents per vote.

MLA for Parksville/Qualicum, Michelle Stillwell says using taxpayer money to fund political parties is wrong…..
Horgan promised the “transition fund” will disappear at the end of his term.
The system of funding political parties through taxpayer subsidies is the common practice in both Ontario and Quebec.
