We could soon know a lot more about the future of passenger rail on the Island
The trains were halted in 2011 over concerns about safety.
The Island Corridor Foundation says it’s going to “announce the future of passenger rail service on Vancouver Island” at 11:30 Wednesday morning.
We’ve had no hints about whether it’s a positive or negative future. They’re making the announcement at Nanaimo’s Selby Street train station.
There’s been mounting frustration over the slow pace of negotiations between the ICF and VIA Rail.
