Gabriola Island RCMP and Gabriola Elementary have finished a Safe School plan. Detachment Commander Cpl. Markus Muntener says other Nanaimo area schools have similar plans in place. The plan provides police with key details they would need in case of an emergency.
Muntener says the plan includes details about the school, its floor plan and number of students. It’s stored in an electronic database, made available to the cops, school district, fire department and ambulance service.
