Emergency responders and volunteers save the day at Sechelt Inlet

A disaster has been avoided thanks to the help of the community and emergency responders.

Sechelt Inlet was buzzing last night (MON) as residents called 911 to report that they had heard yells for help.

Constable Karen Whitby says they along with Search and Rescue responded immediately and discovered that four adults along with a kid had their boat break down in the inlet.

When police showed up, two of the three people who were swimming in the inlet had life jackets on.

After an extensive search with a helicopter, the boat that drifted away with the kid and the adult were eventually found safe and uninjured at home.
