Wildfire situation still volatile

The BC Wildfire Service is easing some restrictions in the interior.
Spokesperson, Kevin Skrepnek says the backcountry closure in the region had been put in place as an extraodinary measure……
An off road vehicle ban will remain in effect in the backcountry.
Skepnek says campfires will once again be allowed in some areas of the Northwest Fire Centre as well.
In the meantime, a ticket has been issued after a group of firefighters from the B.C. Wildfire Service were photographed having a campfire despite a province-wide fire ban.

Kevin Skrepnek says as a result of pictures posted on social media, that show a group of five people dressed in the red and black uniforms of the B.C. Wildfire Service standing around a campfire, two investigations were launched and one has resulted in a fine…..

ICBC has received 124 insurance claims related to the wildfires so far.
The Corporation says most vehicle damage claims were related to extreme heat and smoke damage, with some vehicles total losses.
The claims have cost ICBC around half a million dollars to date.
