City of Nanaimo testing sirens

After some initial delays, the City of Nanaimo is conducting low volume tests of the sirens installed as part of the Colliery Dam Short Term Risk Mitigation Strategy. The tests will be taking during afternoons from Tuesday, December 17 until Friday, December 20. The tests will include an automated voice and pulse sounds at very low levels.

The sirens are one of several ways the City will alert residents and business owners of a flood risk if the dams are at risk of failing. It’s expected that a full sound test will be conducted early in the New Year. Residents will be warned ahead of time.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact the City of Nanaimo at 250-754-4251 or by email at [email protected].
