The Gibsons Fire Department is confirming the fire on Cemetary Road last night (Wednesday) was not intentionally set.
Social media was buzzing as rumours spread that there could be an arsonist in the area.
However, Chief Rob Michael says that’s not true and spreading such rumours has its negative effects on the community.
30 volunteer firefighters from Gibsons and Roberts Creek responded to the incident and Michael says he’s thankful for their quick response.
He adds they are in the preliminary stages of the investigation but it could have been a back firing vehicle that caused the fires, which they have seen in the past.
