The Sechelt Fire Department is reminding the public that the fire danger rating is at extreme now.
Chief Trevor Pike notes people should be cognisant of the fact that it’s that much more dangerous to start a fire now.
Pike says when the camp fire ban was first put into place, they were going to roughly two to three fires a week and those people were fined $1150 on the spot, without any warnings.
Pike says the fire department and the RCMP will continue to fine people who are disobeying the fire ban.
