Final open house on possible name change for St. Mary's

Vancouver Coastal Health says the people who’ve been coming forward with opinions on the name of St. Mary’s Hospital in Sechelt seem to fall into two camps all for keeping it, or all for changing it.

After heading out to shopping malls in Gibsons and Sechelt over the weekend to hear from people, the team from VCH will be at the hospital itself from 4 to 8pm March 31st for the last open house on the idea.

Clay Adams of VCH says there’s been a lot of interest, and balancing the opinions will take some work.

Adams says consultations with the Sechelt First Nation, local governments and groups like the Auxiliary are also continuing.

He also says it’s going to be some time yet before VCH decides if they’ll ask the government to change the name, and what that new name might be.  People can also send input to [email protected]
