Driver leaves the scene after striking cyclist

Nanaimo RCMP is asking for public help following a hit and run incident involving a bicycle and SUV.
The cyclist was hit by the SUV around 3:30 in the morning, a week ago, at the intersection of Bruce Avenue and 7th Street.
The 25 year old cyclist, who was on his way to work, was not seriously injured and admitted to running a stop sign when he was hit.
Constable Gary O’Brient says the driver of the black SUV, which had been travelling east on 7th Street, was overheard to say “Oh my God” before driving off…..

Mounties say there may be some damage to the front grill of the SUV.

Police say motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who are involved in a collision, regardless of who may appear to be at fault, are required by law to remain at the scene.
