Woodfibre among LNG export licenses approved by NEB

The province has announced National Energy Board approval of four Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export licenses.

Among them is Woodfibre Natural Gas Limited, a company backed by the owner of the Indonesian firm Pacific Oil and Gas.

The company is converting the old pulp mill site in Howe Sound to an LNG terminal, and they expect to be operating in 2017.

In a release announcing the approvals Natural Gas Development Minister Rich Coleman says, “These export approvals mark a major milestone in our efforts to create jobs and grow our economy by leveraging our abundant supply of natural gas. Now that the NEB has approved the applications, we look forward to a timely decision from the federal government so that we can ensure these companies are positioned to make final investment decisions as quickly as possible.”
