Nanaimo Track & Field Athletes wins big

The Nanaimo Track and Field Club is celebrating three major victories.

Phillip Vannini says club member Joe Giegerich who is 85 years old a broke the BC records in high jump and triple jump and also broke the Canadian record for pole vault at the Trevor Craven Memorial meet in Burnaby with a 1.6-metre clearance.

Michael Mason from Nanoose Bay won the 2017 Canadian high jump title and will be heading to the World Championships in England later this year.

Nanaimo native Jason Clare will also be going to the upcoming Pan American Championships in Peru after finishing second for the U-20 Men’s pole vault at the Canadian Athletics Championships in Ottawa.
