Sheryl Armstrong gains victory in byelection

Former RCMP Officer Sheryl Armstrong is joining Nanaimo city council after winning the byelection.

Although the official results won’t be out until Wednesday, preliminary results show that Armstrong gained approximately 3600 votes.

The voter turnout was 10.97 per cent of registered voters, whereas 10.1 per cent showed up for the 2011 byelection.

Sacia Burton came in second with around 800 votes.
