About 120 Nanaimo high school students spent Thursday at a Reconciliation & Dialogue Workshop, and Friday adults are getting a chance to participate.
It’s being organized by the Tillicum Lelum Aboriginal Friendship Centre and marks a year since the Snuneymuxw First Nation singed a reconciliation agreement with the province.
It was also a year ago that a racist letter in a local paper sparked community outrage.
Organizer Randy Fred says the event is a continuation of a discussion that letter kicked off, and the work of the national Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
The event runs from 8-3pm at the Neutral Zone at 421 Franklin Street.
