Startup Nanaimo says it’s hoping to help as many as one hundred businesses a year get off the ground, and Tuesday night they picked their first.
Chris Brown, who calls himself “Farmer Brown”, won the Startup Pitch Contest at the group’s launch event.
A similar idea on the Sunshine Coast, called Ignite, helped get the Coast Car Co-op up and running. It launched at the beginning of the month.
More than a dozen people have applied for start up help under Ignite 2014.
