Nanaimo man guilty of manslaughter in stabbing death

A man entered a guilty plea in Nanaimo Provincial Court on Tuesday in the death of a man last year. Gabriel Stinson stabbed Floyd Travis at an apartment complex in the 500 block of 5th street in Nanaimo on January 13, 2013. Travis died in hospital of his injuries.

Nicholas Barber is with Crown Counsel in Nanaimo. He says Stinson pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Stinson’s sentencing hearing hasn’t been scheduled yet, but it’s expected to take place within the next month to month and a half. Barber says an agreed statement of facts has been filed, and that will become part of the public record on the day of Stinson’s sentencing.
