Public art installations going up in Nanaimo

It is Public Art Week in Nanaimo and with that, residents may notice the installation of a number of pieces of new artwork.
One of those installations has taken place on the hoarding around the old Jean Burns building downtown.
Chris Barfoot, the City’s Culture and Heritage Coordinator says public art energizes public spaces, promotes thinking and debate, and transforms the places we live, work
and play….
Barfoot says some of the seven artists who participated in that installation had an attachment to the building having worked in it, or displayed art in it, so for them, their participation in the project is a kind of closure.
