Economic development gets a kick start on two fronts

The City has a plan to get it’s in-house economic development services going.
That’s after Council voted to wind down the arm’s length version of the entity late last year as a result of the core services review.
Amrit Manhas, Economic Development Officer has outlined to council what needs to be done to move forward…
At the same time, however, Kim Smythe, of the Greater Nanaimo Chamber told council they’ll be establishing an Economic Opportunity Task Force….
Smythe says the response from the Chamber is the result of a growing number of phone calls from businesses who want to set up shop in Nanaimo.
