19-year-old woman charged after weekend stabbing

A 19-year-old Nanaimo woman is charged with aggravated assault after a man was stabbed multiple times on Sunday.

The assault happened during a fight at an apartment early Sunday morning in the 200 block of Craig Street. Constable Gary O’Brien speaks for Nanaimo RCMP.

Charges were sworn against the woman this morning. She will be held in custody and will be appearing before a Nanaimo Provincial court judge on Tuesday to determine if she is to be released or held in custody. Three other people initially taken into custody were released without charges.

O’Brien says the 19 year old victim, found bleeding in an alley, is still in hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.
