Nanaimo Search and Rescue hosting joint training exercise

Search and rescue teams from around the mid-island will be descending on Nanaimo on Saturday. They’ll be taking part in a joint training exercise.

Kyle Van Delft, Team Leader with Nanaimo Search and Rescue says up to 30 of their members will be participating, along with Civil Air Search and Rescue and 442 Squadron out of Comox.

He says it’s an opportunity to test out their skills and work as a team. He says while they train regularly, they don’t often have the opportunity to follow a mission through from start to finish.

Delft says they’ll be live-tweeting throughout the day. The public can follow along as the rescue scenario plays out by following @NanaimoSAR.
