Call for bids goes out on Davis Bay Wharf restoration

The District of Sechelt is hoping restoring the iconic Davis Bay Wharf will be a case of “build it and they will come”.

And they’re hoping to get to the building part as soon as possible.  This week they put out the call for companies intested in handling the work, but the time line is tight.

They’ve got to respond by April 2nd and be ready to have the job finished by the end of June.

Mayor John Henderson says he’s hoping this step will also give  a boost to fundraising.

The Island Coastal Economic Trust recently announced it would put up 150-thousand dollars toward the 600-thousand dollar restoration. The District is also ready to pay a part of the cost, but fundraising effort still needs to come up with about 180-thousand. www.davisbaywharf.com
