Raise for Sechelt's managers and a bonus for the CIG

Non-union managers at the District of Sechelt are getting a pay raise.

The 3 per cent increase was approved earlier this year in a closed meeting, and made public at Wednesday’s Council meeting.  The highest paid managers at the District make anything from 80 to more than 100 thousand dollars a year.

Council is also paying Chief of Innovation and Growth Ron Buchhorn the full 2013 bonus allowed under his contract.  That amounts to around 19 thousand dollars.   Councillors Lutes and Shanks disagreed with paying out the bonus.

Buchhorn also shared in smaller bonuses paid to staff who filled in for striking workers, when the BCGEU walked off the job last year.

Under a deal reached after that strike, the District’s unionized workers are seeing a wage increase of 1.5 per cent this year, and 1.75 per cent for 2015.
