It’s day three since an emu flew the coop near Nanaimo and Lucy is still roaming free. The 150lb pet emu escaped from owner Tim Genner’s property on Nanaimo River Rd in Cassidy on Sunday. Genner says there was a sighting reported near Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on Wednesday morning. The emu was previously spotted near Colliery Dam Park and Vancouver Island University.
The story has gone viral and there’s even a @Lucyontheloose twitter account. Genner says he’s glad it’s getting a lot of attention and he hopes the exposure helps bring his pet home safely.
