Sunshine Coast schools getting energy upgrades with money from BC Hydro, Min. of Ed.

Elphinstone Secondary in Gibsons is getting a major energy upgrade.

School District 46 says it’s been given $200-thousand to help pay for new boilers for the school’s heating system.  The money is coming from the province’s Carbon Neutral Capital Program.

SD 46 will have to kick in  $140-thousand.

The school district is also getting some money for new, energy efficient, lighting at three schools.  The $40-thousand from BC Hydro will be used for new lights at Cedar Grove, and Davis Bay Elementary Schools and the Sechelt Learning Centre.
