Oceanside RCMP say a team of police and fire investigators is just getting to work after three people were injured in a possible explosion and fire in rural Dashwood near Qualicum Beach.
Emergency crews were called out around 1:30 Monday afternoon, for reports of a home on fire in the1700 block of Nahmint Road.
The fire was quickly put out, but three men were badly burned. One had to be airlifted to Victoria, the others were taken to Nanaimo Regional General. All three remain in hospital.
There’s still no word on cause, but some sort of “flash” or explosion is suspected. Investigators had to wait for the fire scene to cool enough and be ruled safe before they could go in.
