Sechelt loan referendum passes with slim margin

It was a close vote, but taxpayers in Sechelt have given the OK to a $7.4-million loan for the  wastewater treatment plant.

Preliminary results from Saturday’s referendum were 868 yes and 853 no, with a turn-out of just 23 per cent (official results will be released Monday).

Mayor John Henderson says he’s not really surprised by that, or the close vote.

Mayor John Henderson says they’ll be moving ahead right away with the bylaws needed to take advantage of the loan offer from the Green Municipal Fund and the $1-million grant that comes with it.
