Sechelt councillor hoping to see other area goverments kick in for Victim Services

A Councillor in Sechelt is calling on other local governments to kick in money to help support RCMP Victim Services

Sechelt is the only jurisdiction on the Sunshine Coast with a big enough population that it pays directly for policing.  That also means they’re the only one getting a share of traffic fines from the province.

Last year it came to 56 thousand dollars.

Councillor Doug Hockley says they’re using some of that to help support Victim Services, but other governments aren’t stepping up

Hockley is suggesting Gibsons and the SCRD could use money from other non-conditional provincial grants to help with Victim Services.
