Staff and Councillors in Gibsons say a lot of time is getting eaten up dealing with people over a proposed waterfront hotel conference centre.
There’s been a flood of letters, freedom of information requests and applications to appear at Council meetings – from people on both sides of the George Hotel issue.
Councillor Dan Bouman says opening things up a bit could actually ease that pressure.
Bouman is asking for a review of the procedure bylaw, which sets out the rules.
Mayor Wayne Rowe says just such a review is called for in the strategic plan, but he points out a Catch-22; Town staff are so busy because of the George, they haven’t had to time to move ahead with the review.
Councillors did agree Tuesday night to get together for a special workshop to go over the procedure bylaw to see if they want to make any changes
