A police dog helped Ladysmith RCMP nab an armed robbery suspect within an hour of the crime
Mounties were called to a report of an armed robbery at a floral shop just before noon yesterday.
A man went into the store armed with a knife, grabbed some cash and ran off.
RCMP officers on patrol spotted a man matching the suspect’s description around 1… and with the help of the dog team out of Nanaimo they caught up with him hiding the sundeck of a nearby home.
Ladysmith detachment commander, Staff Sgt. Dave Herman, says it was a classic example of RCMP bringing together their resources for a quick response. ardless of the type of police work different officers are engaged in, a fleeing armed robbery suspect becomes their top priority, as it did yesterday.
The 28 year old Ladysmith man will be in Duncan Court later today.
