Broom Busters says a broom-free Nanaimo still possible, if we act fast

Broom is winning on Vancouver Island, but there’s still time to turn the tide.

That’s the message from the founders of Broom Busters.

Director Joanne Sales made a pitch to Nanaimo City Councillors Monday for more support as the volunteer group gets ready for another spring trying to wipe out the invasive plant Scotch broom.

Sales says the City can help with bylaws, more education and leading by example.

Broom Busters is also active on the Sunshine Coast, and Nanaimo and the Sunshine Coast Regional District are members of the Invasive Species Council of BC.
