Former VIU prof and political analyst Allan Warnke says it shouldn’t be too much longer before we see more NDP leadership candidates.
Mike Farnworth, the MLA for Port Coquitlam and the party’s finance critic, entered the race on the weekend. So far he’s the only declared candidate.
But Warnke says with Farnworth in the campaign has pretty much started, so others won’t waste too much time.
One potential candidates Warnke says he has his eye on is NDP environment critic Rob Fleming, the MLA for Victoria – Swan Lake.
The leadership vote is in September. Local MLAs Nicholas Simons and Leonard Krog, who’ve both run in the past, have said they’re not interested this time.
