There’s a new plan for a golf course hotel in Sechelt.
Previous attempts to get a similar project off the ground didn’t work out.
Now, Council is looking at a deal to sell some land at the course to a developer for a 150 room hotel. The investors also want to buy the Sechelt Golf and Country Club itself.
Along with the usual negotiations Council will have some decisions to make on road access. Mayor John Henderson says that’s going to need a close look. One concern is increasing traffic in a residential area and near a school and a park.
Sechelt’s Chief of Innovation and Growth says one big benefit from the deal could be financial stability for the golf course, which has had money trouble in the past.
Council voted at Committee to go ahead with a first reading on new zoning bylaws while negotiations with the developer continue.
