It could be a while yet before Departure Creek could be realigned.
Nanaimo Environmental Protection Officer, Kevin Brydges says both a habitat assessment and archaeological impact assessment have to be completed first.
Brydges says the creek which is just 3 or 4 metres wide, but flows year round, is hitting up against a building in the area of 1420 Bay Street.
