Every summer, kids who suffer from type 1 diabetes travel from the Yukon and around B.C. to the Sunshine Coast for Camp Kakhamela.
Konrad Schultz, of Vernon, has been coming to the camp for five years. Schultz says it’s rare to meet someone back at home who is in the same situation as him.
The camp is a part of the D-camps program, offered by The Canadian Diabetes Association and Camp Khakamela is the only D-camp offered in B.C.
The two week program is set to wrap up tomorrow. (Friday)
