Each summer, Camp Kakhamela, takes placeĀ on the Sunshine Coast and it is a part of the D-Camps program offered by The Canadian Diabetes Association.
Ted Lockie, Camp & Youth Programs Manager for Western Canada is on the coast for the two-week summer camp and he saysĀ D-Camps helps kids who are currently living with type 1 diabetes.
Lockie says only 12 D-Camps are offered across Canada and Kakhamela, (khak-ah-mel-la) is the only one in B.C. HeĀ says even kids from the Yukon have come up for this week.
Camp Kakhamela will be wrappedĀ up byĀ Friday, next week.
