The Lieutenant Governor of B.C., Judith Guichon, has presented the Gabriola Island Singers with their award.
The singers won the Open category in this year’s Sing Me a Song program.
It’s the group’s second year in a row for the award.
The program is desisgned to promote music and community spirit throughout the province.
It also is an opportunity for musical groups of all ages and genres to write and sing an original song in the lead up to Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations in 2017.
