The BC Utilities Commission will be in Nanaimo tomorrow (Sat) to hear public comments on the rate increases.
The hearing takes place at the Coast Bastion Hotel in from 1 to 3.
It’s too late to apply to be a speaker but the public is welcome to come hear the presentations that are scheduled.
BC Hydro raised the rates by 4 per cent this past April and are looking for two more rate increases over the next two years.
This year’s increase added about 4 dollars to the average monthly residential bill.
Increases of 3 and a half per cent and 3 per cent are proposed over the next two years.
The utility says it needs the money to keep up with a variety of capital projects totalling 7 point 6 billion dollars over the next three years.
