Bat count underway

The White Nose Syndrome is making its way to BC and the Ministry of Environment wants to get an idea of the bat population before the fungus spreads.

Michelle Evelyn is one of the project leaders for the Sunshine Coast Wildlife Project and they’re looking for help with the annual BC Bat Count.

She says they know of 35 bat roosts on the coast, but they suspect there are more out there.

Evelyn says personal details won’t be recorded during the data collection process and they expect the White Nose Syndrome to have a devastating effect on the bat population.
