The City of Nanaimo’s Core Services Review Report is now on-line and it’s a massive document.
The report, done by Western Management Consultants, compared Nanaimo to 6 other municipalities in B.C.
Joyce Tustian, a national managing director with the consulting firm, says it’s obvious Nanaimo is a growing city in transition……
Recommendations to the City included putting in place a standardized purchasing program which could save the city one point 7 million dollars a year.
The consultants suggested the City continue to support the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation and the Vancouver Island Conference Centre but funding for the Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association should be on a project by project basis and the City should consider not renewing the funding to the Island Corridor Foundation.
Any items within the Review that would affect services to residents of Nanaimo would go to the public for comment before being implemented.
