Extra funding available for school upgrades

Schools across BC will be receiving some infrastructure upgrades. The province is providing funding for over 80 projects at different schools across 60 districts in British Columbia.

 

Education Minister Mike Bernier says this is a win for teachers, staff and students in schools.

 

 

Bernier says the funding is available because of the strong economy in British Columbia, and it will help upgrade heating systems as well as roof replacements at schools across the province.

 

The funding comes from the “School Enhancement Program”:

SD46 – Sunshine Coast

  • Madeira Park Elementary School (Madeira Park) – $453,750 to replace boiler plant
  • Cedar Grove Elementary School, Langdale Elementary School, Elphinstone Secondary School, Davis Bay Elementary School, Kinnikinnick Elementary School, West Sechelt Elementary School, Chatalech Secondary School, Sechelt StrongStart Centre, Halfmoon Bay Elementary School, Madeira Park Elementary School, Pender Harbour Elementary-Secondary School, Roberts Creek Elementary and Board Office (Gibsons, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay, Madeira Park and Roberts Creek )- $371,000 for a digital direct controls upgrade

SD68 – Nanaimo-Ladysmith

  • Georgia Avenue Elementary School (Nanaimo) – $360,000 for boiler upgrade
  • Quarterway Elementary School (Nanaimo) – $302,500 for boiler upgrade
