After 30 years the cannons in Nanaimo are still fired just before the noon hour every day all summer.
The Bastion has opened for the season now and Aimee Greenaway, interpretation curator for the Nanaimo Museum says more than 4,000 visitors were in attendance for the cannon firings last summer.
The visitor information centre kiosk at the Bastion is now open for the season and the cannons are firing.
